Apple Bread Treat (Printable Version)

# What You’ll Need:

01 - 16 ounces crusty French stick.
02 - 1 3/4 pounds sweet Gala apples.
03 - 4-6 tablespoons butter.
04 - 2 1/2 tablespoons plain flour.
05 - 2 teaspoons apple pie spice mix.
06 - 3/4 cup packed brown sugar.
07 - 1 cup water.
08 - 5 large eggs.
09 - 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted down.
10 - 2 1/4 cups full-fat milk.
11 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
12 - 1/2 cup brown sugar.
13 - 1 teaspoon apple pie spice blend.
14 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder.

# Steps To Make It:

01 - Slice your baguette into small 1/2 inch squares. You can let them dry out naturally for a day on a tray, or speed things up by drying them in a 200°F oven for about 1.5-2 hours.
02 - Toss chopped apples with the flour, sugar, and spices. Melt butter in a pan, add water and cook till apples turn soft. Drain but keep the liquid.
03 - In a big bowl, beat together eggs, milk, melted butter, vanilla, brown sugar and all your spices until well combined.
04 - Spread bread cubes in a greased 9x13 pan. Top with your cooked apple mix. Pour the egg mixture all over, gently pushing bread down so it soaks up the liquid.
05 - Pop in a 375°F oven for half an hour, then cover with foil and bake another 15-20 minutes. Drizzle the saved apple juice over the top when done.
06 - Let it sit for 10 minutes before you dig in. It's great warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side if you want.

# Extra Notes:

01 - You can easily mix your own apple pie spice using cinnamon, nutmeg and a bit of allspice.
02 - Don't skip drying the bread or you'll end up with soggy results.
03 - The saved apple juices make everything extra moist and tasty when poured on top.
