Get your espresso ready using your pot or machine. You can use 4 ounces of strong brewed coffee instead.

Warm the milk and create foam with whatever tool you've got - a frother, plain whisk, or the steam arm on your machine.

Put the vanilla flavoring in your cup and pour the foamy milk on top.

Gently add the espresso over the milk foam to make that classic dark spot on top.

Make two rings of caramel around the edges and then criss-cross lines through the middle.
